The UK National Anthem has 3 verses, as in a hymn - no chorus.

A song can have one or many verses - I'm thinking German Lieder 
(especially Schubert settings) here, but it's pretty universal within 
the 'classical' tradition that a song, being often a setting of a 
pre-published poem which can have several verses, will set all or most 
of them.

Most people only know the first verse of the National Anthem. :)
