Thanks!  I just found the crank handle, it was inside the cabinet.  Picked up the front end to look underneath and heard it sliding around inside.  I cranked it up and it WORKS!  Very happy about that.  I had assumed the springs (this is a double spring Amberola 50) were broken.  There was a box of Edison cylinders with this machine, languishing in a basement for at least 60 years.  It was put away when the family got their new electric record player in 1950 or so.  Got a lot of cleaning to do.  Many of the cylinders were split, mostly unplayable.  I put one of those on the spindle and it played, sort of.  Still need a new stylus.
