Test the stylus first, Earl. Set it down in the run out of a shiny disk
that you have previously confirmed has no lines/marks in it. Run the disk
for a few seconds or so and then look for a line where the record was
running under the stylus. If you see a line were there was none previously,
you need to contact Expert for a new DD stylus. You should also see if the
gaskets have perished. puff gently into the end of the reproducer. If it
does not build up any pressure or if you hear a hiss, the gaskets are
probably bad (usually the case). The local phono society will be able to
recommend a rebuilder.

Hi 78ers!
Today, I took possession of a proper 'Edison (Diamond) Disc Phonograph'.
It's floor standing on four legs and has a couple of small cupboards either
side of the turntable!
It set me back £250 or about $375 but now I can play my Diamond discs and
hear them properly!
(smug smile) ;-)
Earl Okin.
