Were there any made in 1912? I haven't found any before the hillbilly genre of the 1920s that have already been mentioned. What have I missed -or if I'm right, any theories as to why?

Here are a few:
After the Sinking of the Titanic - Darby & Tarlton
The Great Titanic - Roy Acuff & his Smoky Mountain Boys
Last Scene of the Titanic - Frank Hutchison
The Sinking of the Titanic - Ernest Stoneman & the Blue Ridge Mountaineers
Wreck of the Titanic - Doc Hopkins
It Was Sad When That Great Ship Went Down - Almanac Singers (Guthrie, Seeger, et. al.)
I don't seem to have any songs with Titanic in the title that are in my bluegrass library, but these old time country records will certainly suffice.
