My notes for the long-awaited second volume of Eddie Morton, "The Sound of Vaudeville" is now available:

http://www.archeophone.com/product_info.php?products_id=107

Free copies are available for anyone willing to review it for print publications (e.g. ARSC Journal). If anyone can also help us get in the door of any Philadelphia or Wildwood newspapers (for local interest) we'd appreciate it.

Not only will you enjoy Morton's irresistible vocal renditions from the second half of his recording career, but you will learn many new details not found in the first volume. (Did you know that his father Charles Henry Morton was the original "Hertzog" in the historic 19th century production "The Black Crook"?) Also included is a detailed songography of all of his known compositions (both published and unpublished), his travel schedule from 1914-1916, and of course, the first detailed account of his police work prior to his stardom (I finally found the documentation at the Philadelphia City Archives -- they were looking in the wrong place in the first volume).

The CD is now for sale at a special introductory price of $14.99, plus the link above provides sound samples so you can get an idea of his style. If you enjoy early popular music, or want to build a library containing great resources on historic entertainers, you'll find this volume essential. (And show your support so I can actually get paid to do more cool detective work like this!)
