No, it was a real band that played live gigs. My DeLong Whiteman bio is in
storage, so I can't tell you how long the band lasted (we Whiteman fans are
eagerly waiting for the second volume of Don Rayno's bio). I think he
disbanded when he became an executive with ABC.
