Yes, and Glen Gray was fond of telling that story.  Bill Givens was the program director of WHAM in Rochester, NY and used to do a big band show the first Saturday of the month in the mid-1960s.  He did a Casa Loma show and told of his association with Gray at WBZ in Boston just before moving to Rochester.  Glen gave him a copy of that record and Bill enjoyed passing on Glen's story about it.  I thought it was a great record and would love to hear it again.

Just noticed while meandering through ADBD.
The Casa Loma Orchestra's first session took place on October 29, 1929.
That was "Black Thursday" when the stock market crashed.
They recorded three titles, the last of which was............"Happy Days Are 
Here Again"
