[78-L] Theatre or Theater?

Well,  I'll be hog-tied and bull-whipped...I checked mine,   and the labels 
do spell it "Theatre" which makes no sense to me,  given that it was a 
product of the USA for USA theaters...or theatres..or movie houses.

These days,  I note that in some circles it's considered "fancy" here in the 
states to spell a word as the English would...or as someone might imagine 
the English would.

Some times it goes beyond silly...there is a real estate development some 
hundred miles north of Seattle with the name of '"Harbour Pointe."   I 
cringe every time I see a sign for it.
