[78-L] NYC Gennetts (was: Pre 1926 Red Nichols Records)

What is so strange about Gennett having a New York recording studio? In
fact, recordings made in NYC predate those made in Richmond /for public
consumption/ by about 6 years! It has been rumored that Richmond had
/experimental/ recording facilities beginning around 1916, but to my
knowledge no proof of that has ever surfaced.
