I recorded one side of these WESTERN label records and the LP stylus worked great. The folks singing reminded me of the
cowboy group that used to sing at the flea market I used to visit in the late 1960s, very bad, though the Cattle Call tune was not
as bad as the Tex Owens version on DECCA.
I use an old Garrard 4HF(L) turntable to record my 78s with a GE VRII cartridge or sometimes an old RPJ cartridge. Works great and I can play 16" transcriptions on it, too. For LPs, I went to Costco and got a cheap Ion USB turntable (LPs don't get no respect here).
Still don't know who made these records, I guess that info was on the album or record sleeves.

So what do you normally play your 78's on?

No clue who the artists are, but the songs are hits from that period by people like Hank Snow, Eddy Arnold, Johnnie& Jack, Jim Reeves, etc. Could be horrible cover versions or dubs of commercial recordings - that would be my guess. I've been looking through a record collection I
bought about 4 years ago and am just now getting to. Found 3 10" records with 3 songs on each side in the LP pile, but they are actually extended play 78 rpm records. The label is 'WESTERN' and it lists the 3 songs on each side, but that's about all. No artists, nothing telling who made them, and the only numbers in the dead wax match the numbers on the labels. Seems very odd to me. Are these generic radio transcriptions? Something else? >>>>>>You can look at the labels here: >>>>>>http://pdx78s.cdbpdx.com/WEPR/ >>>>>>Thanks for any info!
