A loud bass drum will swallow the rest of the orchestra; and their musical standards are hopeless. As an example, we were promised Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto.....after these messages. These messages went on for around 5 minutes and then we heard the end of the last movement of the Concerto - the equivalent of the last side of the Heifetz/Barbirolli recording.

Since I only tune in to that station briefly out of desperation and when I'm in
the car, I'll accept DB's assessment. But their compression and high end boost
used to be far worse before Moses Znaimer bought the station..similar to what
scratches my eardrums on CBC-2. The Corp may also be boosting everything
because of the old problems of sending a signal from the Maritimes all the way
to BC, and Giggling Gertie's program does indeed originate down east, but the
audio on Tom Terrific out of Toronto isn't any better. Since he gives time
checks, I presume he also does it an hour early, live to the Maritimes, and
then the equipment bounces it back to each time zone.
