[78-L] What's an ERPI?

Does the -6 suffix in these ERPI numbers refer to the number of sides in the series?

The disc I have is 8068-6 and 8069-6, labelled Contemporary Poets III and IV. 
Making of Americans was "Parts 1 & 2" on the Caedmon lp, as I recall, so this 
all flows as a series.
