Coming into this a little late.
Here's a picture of a Columbia crate, for a model 239 which was introduced in 1924. Just scroll down a little.

As Mike says the only way to date it is to know what model it was and even that would still give only a range for when the model existed.
Cheers,
Glenn

I have a crate side from a Victor Radio which I got maybe 25 years ago.
I knew of other collectors who had crate sides, but it has been a long
time since I've seen any, and the one I got is the only one I've seen
for sale. So they are not unknown but not all that common. The Edison
Site has several full Edison crates. I've never seen a Columbia or
Brunswick, etc. only Victor and Edison.
Does the crate mention the model number? I suppose it could be roughly
estimated by the size. The Victor Data Book shows the dimensions of all
of the models but does not mention the crates. Perhaps as mentioned by
others, the Eldridge Johnson Victor Museum i Delaware might have that
shipping info.
