An eccentric West Coast label which pirated English releases of esoteric foreign items like Chinese opera and a laughing record. I believe these were associated with a West Coast DJ. These dubs show raised, sans-serif typescript in the runout typical of C.P. MacGregor products, as well as a tiny, hand-drawn diamond E.
Ray Noble and his New Mayfair Orch. London, March 1, 1932. Vocal by Bobbie Comber and Chorus.

She was poor but she was honest may be Leslie Sarony.

Subject: [78-L] another Party Record question
Professors all,I recently got hold of an English comedy record, on the Old Ned label. Saidlabel is quite plain and generic-looking, which led me to wonder whetherthis outfit was comparable to some of the "party" labels circulated here inthe States.Titles:In The Bushes At The Bottom Of The GardenEnglish NoveltyON 6-AShe Was Poor But She Was HonestEnglish SongON 6-BThose same numbers are stamped into the lead-out area. The humor is only a little suggestive or risque, not at all raunchy bytoday's standards. It has made me laugh, all the same.I don't see much info via google about Old Ned records. Does anyone haveinfo handy, like maybe how long they were in business, and who the keyplayers were? Some of the voices sound familiar, but this novice can't placethem.I'll keep an eye open for more of these, though I won't hold my breath.Best,Rod_______________________________________________78-L mailing list78-L at klickitat.78online.comhttp://klickitat.78online.com/mailman/listinfo/78-l
