There is definitely no lacquer, it's solid, whatever it's made of. I can't
find a magnet right now - I'll check tomorrow.

Okay, gang, I was kidding about the steel wool..thought that would have been

obvious but you can't be too careful. Unless the lacquer has begun to peel
away 
from the disc, you should be safe with something like Dawn, and a quick
rinse 
and dry..
