Hello All.
Today I bought a collection of, mostly, dance band records from the 1930s and early 1940s brought back from India by a British ex-colonial years ago. It’s mostly unremarkable stuff in average condition apart from 6 records in almost mint, store stock condition. There are 2 each by Joe Loss, Gracie Fields and George Formby Jr. on The Twin record label.
Was Regal Zonophone operating in India in the late 30s / early 40s ? The labels are beige coloured (my wife says butterscotch Angel Delight) with maroon and black lettering and a rough depiction of the two cherubs that appeared on the origiinal British The Twin / Zonophone labels.
One example is George Formby – The Window Cleaner / Keep Your Seats Please on The Twin F.T. 8184, matrix no.s C (in a circle) AR4186-1 and C AR1488-1,
Can anyone point me to a website that has any information about these?
Brian B.
