A scanner makes a huge difference. You can buy them for less than $100 and it will serve you well. Most buyers won't bid on something that they can't see, and if you use a boilerplate image that you scabbed from the internet, you could be accused of fraud if there are imperfections not shown in the image you used. For images that don't fit in the scanner (10" and 12" LPs, oversized sheet music, posters, etc.), I take a picture with a digital camera and then upload that to my Windows editing program where I can crop it and adjust the brightness/contrast (Monkey Ward 78s don't scan well and need brightening).
