I am 48 and I started when I was about 8  people used to give me 78s

 am 43 (and collecting since the age of 10...)

 Ditto that. I'm 56 now. Back in 1982 I was doing some 78 shows on our
 local community radio station, and a listener contacted me, eager to
 learn about these old rekkuds. He was 15 at the time. Now almost 44,
 he's become a great friend and avid collector.
