Actually there are two different reasons involoved:
1) I enjoy listening to virtually any non-classical 78.
2) Virtually all the "valuable jazz" recordings have been reissued...
some on LP but many on CD...! In fact, my "local record store"
(Wilson & Lee, here in Oshawa, Ont'o., Canada) very recently
had a sale on those 10-CD sets (generally the companies are
based in Canada or Europe, where the copyright terms on
sound recordings is 50 years...making a lot of recordings p.d.
for reissuance!). They were being sold at $14,99 each...so
I bought over $300 worth of them...! This in turn means that I have
a substantial portion of "famous jazz recordings" (and a lot of
"famous" c&w as well...!)!
Also add "#2.5"...one of my main goals (dependent on my
allotted life span) is to improve...even perfect..."the Abrams
files!" This would in and of itself necessitate my ovning
"E(n-c)78FEM." Since the VAST majority of these are NOT
of substantial jazz interest, I need to buy large lots of VERY
miscellaneous 78's...!
