[78-L] Edge Bite

I've used Crazy or Super Glue on many dozens of records with no
problems, even putting together records broken in three or more pieces,
assuming the pieces will fit tightly together. You have to practice the
joins first, use VERY LITTLE, and work fast. Unless there is a gap
between the pieces, Duco and Elmers are not appropriate because they
take up space of their own. The statement that Duco softens the record
is another reason it should not be used.
If there is a crack in a record I have often supported it with Scotch
Magic Tape on the rim and if it extends into it, the lead-out area. But
a drop of Crazy Glue at the rim is also very good. Both these
techniques are especially important to secure a potential edge bite that
has not yet separated. But I only support the rim. If there is a bite
I pit a small glue drop on both rim edges and just at the center of the
curve of the bite. Use very, very, very little, but then later on I
might put another drop on the rims, and then tape over it.
