Remember: Queen Victoria was 3/4 German from ancestry. Her father, 
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, was half German and her 
mother, Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, was 100 per cent German.
Young Victoria's governess was German and German became her first language.
She later married the German prince Albert and their household language 
was always...you guessed it: German.
