While Julius Lenzberg's 1913 "Hungarian Rag" uses pieces of Liszt's H.R.#2, S.R.Henry's "Under the Rambling Roses" is
Schubert's Moment Musical No.3 in its entirety, syncopated and with some 'raggy' effects thrown in (and another melody
tacked on, after 1:12). (Hear it: http://cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/mp3s/9000/9345/cusb-cyl9345d.mp3 ... I was just
playing my copy on a Columbia Q!)
Are there earlier examples of this genre (I guess it's a 'genre') ?
