The stereo mixes of Beatles material were afterthoughts, looked at as mere obligation by the band itself, and Capitol didn't even use them, preferring to send the mono tapes through Duophonic or some other artificial stereo process.

Before the mid sixties and even after, performers almost never were
involved with the post-production of their records. The reason why it
is noted that Stokowski was interested in how his recordings were mixed
is precisely because he was the ONLY performer thus involved!!! And
Capitol did not ignore the EMI stereo Beatles mixes and use Duophonic
for the Beatles. There are two or three notable tracks where the stereo
mixes were lost or delayed in delivery where they re-channeled them.
Two or three TRACKS. And some if not all of these were later corrected
to real stereo.
