Just for the sake of completeness: 

Deutsche Grammophon's system (patented 1946) was called 'variable Micrograde'. 

And it came back to my mind that I attended Herr Rhein's presentation for Telefunken's 
new Stereo Füllschrift system in 1960 or 1961 at the Technical University in Berlin.
