Sounds like a GREAT idea; I wonder how many of these sounds
still exist in recorded form?! Logical place to check would be
"sound effecis"...!
A few possibilities:
1) telephones with actual metal bells
2) v8 cars with "loud mufflers"
3) mechanical cash registers
4) "fire whistles/etc." used to call small-town firefighters to duty
5) recordings of vintage "top 20" radio programming
6) hand-wound sirens on fire engines and ambulances
7) sound of "crown caps" being removed from pop/beer bottles
8) various birds and insects as they become extinct...?!
9) "monkey organs" used by "organ grinders" (who all had
monkeys) to entertain kids and collect change
10) "Conelrad" radio notices advising us to tune to 640 or 1240
for instructions after the Russians bomb us...?!
Any more suggestions...?!
