hello all I don't know if this went through last time.
I recently changed my setup from purely LP and other stuff to 78/LP. I am
using a Dual 1219 TT with Pickering XV15 with a 78 stylus and LP stylus
capability. I am using a Pioneer SG 9500 graphic EQ for 78's, H/K 330C amp
that has a Mono switch through HPM100's speakers. For recording purposes I can
use a Teac 4300 RTR, Denon cassette deck or burn direct to CD with a Koss
cd burner. I was using Audacity to archive 78's but I felt it lacking in
the sonic's, same TT and stylus too. With the current setup I can dial in
the 78's and get a much cleaner sound 78's that sounded swishy compressed now
sound open, deep sound and lush with very little noise floor. I was just
listening to Also Sprach Zathrusa BSO 1932 RCA Victor that sounds very much
like a modern mono recording. The drums in the opening are loud and proud
not mushy at all. I am very pleased and can't wait to plough through the rest
of my collection to see what I was missing I
Cheers
Dwight
