[78-L] Bernstein

It was called the Stadium Symphony because the NYPO played at Lewisohn Stadium of City College on 135th Street in Manhattan. The summer orchestra was the NYPO minus a number of first chairs and even some 2nd chairs (2nd bassoonist Frank Ruggieri always took the summer off and Loren Glickman, the contractor for the Columbia Symphony NY version, played in his stead). I believe that the recording orchestra was the regular NYPO under the assumed name. There were a number of Stadium Sym recordings on Everest besides the ones on Music Appreciation.
