re: Hilton Jefferson on the Bailey LP 
I love that LP Julian - esp the septet sides, and Jefferson was one of the most under rated jazz musicians.
re: Webb and Jefferson 
.. was Hilton the superb clarinet on the Jungle Band's recording (this was a Webb outfit from 1929 - with a great trumpet team of Ward Pinkett and Edwin Swayzee) of "Jungle Mama"(Hughes Pannasie thought so) from 1929 that was recorded BEFORE Carter's superb clarinet on "Dee Blues" by the Chocolate Dandies, think Hilton does not get his proper dues in jazz history (he did play some alto solos with Webb as well) ...
