Book?  Singular? He produced a whole slew of books.  I have several 
shelves of them, and don't have them all.  In general none of them are 
really "in-print" but to a varying degree all are available.  Put his 
name in the search engine of the major on-line book sources.  Some are 
fairly inexpensive, but some might cost you your first-born.  Some, like 
Jazz Records and the American Dance Band Discography have been recently 
updated, others like British Dance Band Discography and Complete 
Entertainment Discography were last updated by himself but are due for 
more recent updates.

In general he took the lull in U.S. recording in mid-1942 due to the 
Musicians' Union strike as a convenient dividing point in recording 
history.  But the Columbia Discography cuts off at the sale to ARC in 
1931, the British Dance Band Discography cuts off at the end of 1939 
right after the beginning of WW II, and the Victor Master Book Vol 2 
ends around the point in 1937 where the matrix series numbers restarted 
with a leading zero.
