[78-L] Best way to clean 78s

Over the years, members have suggested that cleaning 78s with water causes some absorption, softening the shellac a little.
It has has been suggested that you dry them very well, overnight if possible, to allow for the hardest surface to avoid needle damage.
This may be especially true for acousticals played with a steel needle.

I do't recall if any experimental confirmation of this 'softening effect' was ever offered.
