Some additional tech info on the Nov.7, 1940  recording of the entire\
dance of the Duke Ellington  Orch. by Jack Towers at the Crytal Ballroom in 
Fargo, N.D.
(Parts of the dance were broadcast by station KVOX, Moorehead, Minnesota.)
The music was recorded by the PrestoY recorder using three mikes onto 16" 
aluminum based  "acetates" at 33 1/3 rpm from the inside out.
 The mikes were an RCA 77c;    an RCA Pressure Dynamic (solos) and  an RCA 
Junior Velocity (ribbon) near the piano(on all the time)
There were 2 mike inputs on the Presto plus a pre-Amp plugged onto an 
additional remote input on the Presto.
This dance took place two days after Franklin Delano Roosevelt's re-election 
to a third term.
It was Ray Nance''s first night with the band and he takes his first solo on 
"The Mooche"
There are several tunes which were omitted from the 1990 Jack Towers 
re-mastered version.
Omitted from the top of the third set  were "Flaming Sword", "Never No 
Lament" and Clarinet Lament".
