Hello,

This was the sea port of Weymouth, Dorset UK, circa March-April, 1944.  Donahue and the Navy Band were billeted in The Royal Hotel and played at several venues. I heard them. I'm now 81yrs.

Weymouth was the embarkation point on June 6th for numerous US soldiers who, sadly, perished on Omaha Beach.

There were commandeered buildings converted into entertainment halls etc.  However, was there another FOY with whom this confusion could arise ?.    Someone I interviewed, years ago, regarding local WWII history, had Foy's autograph.  She thought he, at one time in his career, had been a Juggler - or similar.

Does that add to the confusion. ?

You are assuming that the servicemen were in the U.K., but they also
were in North Africa which is where Fred Foy was stationed.  He can be
heard as the announcer and sidekick for a touring Jack Benny in some
North African appearances.  Foy never was a headliner or a star, he was
an announcer.
