You are assuming that the servicemen were in the U.K., but they also 
were in North Africa which is where Fred Foy was stationed.  He can be 
heard as the announcer and sidekick for a touring Jack Benny in some 
North African appearances.  Foy never was a headliner or a star, he was 
an announcer.
