For different speeds and formats, different systems.

For 78's:
10'' electric:
Jazz (Swedish, Scandinavian, European, British, US, Other (within each
category A-Z per artist and, if possible, chronologically for each
artist, otherwise catalogue number)
Popular (Swedish, Scandinavian, British (Dance Band and other), German,
French, Latin, US, Other - within each category A-Z per artist etc)
Ethnic (similar system)
Classical (Swedish composers A-Z for orchestral works, Swedish artist
A-Z for instrumental soloists, Swedish vocalists A-Z for singers,
Swedish vocal ensembles A-Z - for all these: each artist/ ensemble
chronologicaly or per catalogue number. Same system for international
composers/ artists)
Spoken/ Documentary (Artist A-Z)
Production Music (Label A-Z and catalogue number for each label)
Christmas records (no particular order)
Children's music (artist A-Z)

10'' acoustic:
Popular (as above)
Classical (as above)

12'':
Popular (as above)
Classical (as above)

Other formats/ oddities (picture records, 7'', 8'' etc, flexies,
postcards - no particular order)

Private recordings (no particular order)

None of this in any database - enough job organizing the shelves' system...

And the first disc on the first shelf?
At the moment: Ambrose & His Orchestra: "Life Is Nothing Without Music"
(Anne Shelton, vocals)/ "Nocturne Of The Oasis" - Decca F 8592
Filed under: "British Dance Bands".
But God knows which category will be first in six month's time. Part of
collecting is getting disorganized. A fully organized collection will
yield no surprises.
