[78-L] Toe Each His Own

Hope there's no scam lurking about. I lucked out when in 1984 I'd ordered a
box of parts from a company called Stereo Cost Cutters, who used the
abbreviation 'SCC Inc' on their packaging; there had been a series of ads on
CNN for el cheapo bogus jewellery from a company calling itself 'Santo Gold'
who abbreviated their company name SGC.
One day, while waiting for the parts to arrive, UPS showed up with a
package. That time, my mother answered the door; she thought it might have
been the package I was waiting for. She asked me if I was expecting a
package from SGC in Florida. As I'd seen that abbreviation on the telly
ads I knew it wasn't the package; I told her not to sign for it--the one I
ordered was from SCC of Dublin, Ohio.
Had I not been there she'd have accidentally signed for a bogus package that
hadn't been ordered and stuck with a bill for useless junk. Even cheekier,
someone who said they were from Santo Gold Company a few days later rang my
mother up asking her why she'd refused the package!
