If you look at Ty's lists of the Voc 2500-3500 series, you will see that
some cat.nrs occur twice. Some of these Ty calls "alt issue".
Several alt. issues are by Bing Crosby, recd 1932-1933.
Examples:
2867 both by Chuck Richards (see MBRB in Rust) and Bing (Sweet G. Brown).
2870 both by Benny Carter and Bing.
The Bings are later pressings, on blue label, while the orig. issues are on the
black-cream-gold label.
It looks if Voc used those nrs for Bing which they surely did not want to reissue.
But why did Voc use these previously used cat.nrs instead of some new nrs?
Did Voc keep Bing in the catalog under new "old" nrs, without having to list them
as new issues in the monthly supplements?

Another oddity is the use of the same nr in the jazz series and in the
race/country series:
3071 Manone Oct 35 and 03071 Blind Boy Fuller Apr 36.
They did not use 03072/73 however, poss. since they wanted to repress
Armstrong's 3072/73 (Body&Soul etc).
3101 is Chick Webb and 03101 Gene Autrey.
3170 is Stuff Smith 11 Feb 1936; 03170 is Broonzy, 29 Jan 1937.
Is it known if both nrs occurred in the same catalog?
