[78-L] 50 cm. Pathe discs

Hi Everyone
 I'm briefly de-lurking to ask a question. I've just been contacted by 
someone 100 miles away from me whose father has recently died. He has been 
left approximately 8 - 10#000 78s, 600 LPs and many 45s . He has freely 
admitted that the collection has no real theme or purpose, being just an 
accumulation of anything that his father came across.

But, he does admit there are no Berliners, there are about 50  Winner/ 
Edison Bell "test pressings". Apparently his father worked for the company 
in the 1920s More interestingly, he has 17 Pathe 50 cm. which he has been 
offered £1000 for. Is he bullsh---ing me about this offer, does anyone 
think, few people can play these, are they really worth this amount. I get 
the impression from the owner that they re all in good shape.
