[78-L] Walter Winchell Varsity

[Han Enderman]

I have label images of a single side of Varsity 8130 & 8138, with the wrong credit
on 8130 as noted (and still Clark without "e" on 8138).
Drusilla has composer credit Cecil Anderson (but Vocal by The Duke of Iron).
W.Winchell has composers (Clark-Merrick).
Is it known who is Merrick?

Gerald... that's what Varsity 8138 sez.
Oddly enough, the "Abrams Files" show GERALD CLARK for Varsity 8138  
(correct) but GEORGE CLARK for Varsity 8130, as the original poster stated
...typo on 8130's label?

A typo seems likely since Spottswood confirms that it's Gerald, who was well 
known on records from about 1931. 
By the way, Dick dates this recording to January 1940.

The Duke of Iron is Cecil Anderson.
"George" Clark is a typesetter/proofreader's error for Gerald (Fitzgerald) Clarke.
The violinist is Victor Pacheco, a Cuban.

Gerald Clarke's group was resident at the Village Vanguard in the late 1930s, saving the club from going under.  Max Gordon's autobiography sells this short, but he confirmed this to me.  This was also confirmed by contemporary New York newspaper accounts.
