How about John Denver? Maybe not young but, I would think, prematurely.
 ayK

This may sound strange but I was compiloing a list of artists who died
prematuely or at a young age--usually sudden and came up with several
names that were under contract to Victor/RCA Victor at the time of their
   deaths

   1919- Cal "Uncle Josh" Stewart
   1921- Enrico Caruso
   1933 - JImmie Rodgers
   1934- Russ Columbo
   1935- Leroy Carr
   1944- Glenn Miller
   1960-Jesse Belvin
   1964 - JIm Reeves
   1964 Sam Cooke
( also in 1964 a young singer named David Box who died in a plane crash
two days before his first session for RCA]
   1977- Elvis Presley
   and 1989-Keith Whitley
