1) Nonetheless, most of to-day's artists usually refer to a release (often a 
CD
or a group of .mp3 files) as "our new album"...?!

2) IIRC, at least (RCA) Victor issued a very few single 78's in special 
packaging;
these were sometimes numbered as "albums"...!
