(sigh) It's 2010 and people still get their kiloHertz and their MegaHertz confused....
1560 (kHz) was WQXR's *old* AM broadcast band (medium wave for you non-North American folks) frequency.

WQXR-FM's new frequency is 105.9 (MHz). On their website they make the hopeful claim that "About 86% of our listeners should still be able to receive us..." Even though their antenna's on the Empire State Building FM-antenna cluster, they're only putting out 610 watts ERP. Considering the 96.3 transmitter is rated at 6000 watts ERP, it's no wonder the "new" WQXR's coverage area sucks. I can't imagine how limited in range their HD Radio signal (which is about 10% of their total transmitter output) must be.

No David.. It is FM...but a very weak watts signal..not like the ultra
powerful 96.3 with 50,000. I may be off a few numbers but the new WQXR is
up there in the 1500 plus FM range.
It is stereo but that is academic as I have to switch to mono (Yes Virginia
there are still mono option receivers
out there) to get rid of the multiplex hiss., and even then it has blast and
interference.
