Funny, cause the guy also took out a French patent on a device for
taking and exhibiting photographs in succesive order:
http://www.google.se/imgres?imgurl=http://cinematographes.free.fr/images/brevet-02.jpg&imgrefurl=http://cinematographes.free.fr/index-brevets.html&usg=__VuNM1HJF6vctitf1SryZ8iSN73c=&h=220&w=150&sz=28&hl=en&start=2&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=BWCseeIQrTDnOM:&tbnh=107&tbnw=73&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2522ademor%2Bn%2BPetit%2522%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26tbs%3Disch:1
And, according to some Brazilian sites (his first patent was registered
in Brazil in 1902) he was Swiss and his name was Adhemar Napoleón Petit.
(Variation: Ademar). But don't bother google the Swiss sites - there's
not a trace of him.
