[78-L] AMERICAN MUSIC Record Label, New Orleans Jazz. A Question-

I'm trying to find out more about the AMERICAN MUSIC record label.  The online 78discography is helpful dating the recordings, but everything else I know about it comes from the 'all knowing' and 'infallible' Wikipedia.  It says William Russell started the company in 1944 to record New Orleans jazz and was initially based in Canton, MO (shows a label with a Canton, Mo address) then moved to New Orleans.  The records I have say '647 Means Ave / Pittsburg 2, Pa'.  Where does Pittsburg fit into the timeline?  

And anything else about the label would be appreciated.
