even if you can't make the meetings..lots of far-flung members across North

Restoration and Repair
with Bob Nix, The Gramophone Doctor

Join us as Doctor Bob prescribes what's best for renewing and preserving your 
phonograph's cabinetry. Bob will take us through the steps of stripping, 
repairing, staining and finishing. We'll even learn about which products to use 
on those ailing cabinets to make them look like new. Bob will also provide a 
hands-on demonstration. This presentation is just what the doctor ordered when 
it comes to restoration and preservation. ________________________

Welcome to CAPS' 41st year of continuous meetings. Our founding members tell us 
that the current formula of a presentation followed by a social period with 
refreshments and then an auction is one that we have followed from the 
beginning. Very successfully, it seems, because CAPS consistently attracts more 
than 50 members and guests to each and every meeting. Have a look at the

September 11th's huge outdoor antique show at the Christie Conservation Area 
saw 10,000 people gather to search out new treasures among the old goodies. And 
once again CAPS members helmed a display booth showing off Edisons and 
Columbias to the fascinated passersby. The CAPS team - Mike Bryan, Mike 
Dicecco, Mark Quail, Mark Caruana, Steve Sandbrook, Brad Berger & Cathy Wood - 
fielded loads of questions on repairs, where to find parts and the current 
market values of the machines. All in all, a great early fall day and a great 
excursion out of the city to further the cause of we phonograph collectors.

CAPS meetings are held in Room B1-16 at the Progress Court campus of Centennial 
College in Toronto, Ontario. This is very handily located at the Markham Road 
exit off Highway 401. See map: http://www.capsnews.org/meetings.htm
By transit, from the Kennedy subway station, take the Scarborough RT 4 stops to 
Scarborough Centre station.
Descend 2 levels to the bus platform level.
Up at far end, take the Progress 134 bus.
Get off at the first stop beyond Markham Road (announced as 921 Progress Ave).
The entrance walkway to Centennial College is straight ahead.

Meetings begin promptly at 1:00 pm. Come early to peruse the auction tables.
