Julian,
Are the Ted Lewis sessions also from Chicago?
The Timeless CD still gives New York for 31 Jan/1 Feb 33, undoubtedly from ADBD-1
(these titles not in Rust's Jazz Records).

Adjacent mx blocks are:
152356-59 Rudy Vallee 25-1-1933
152360-65 Ted Lewis 31-1 & 1-2-1933
152366-69 Mark Fisher 2-2-1933 = Chicago
152370-73 Fred Rich 7-2-1933
152374-75 Phil Regan 9-2-1933
152376-77 Gertrude Niesen 9-2-1933
152378-81 Rudy Vallee 24-2-1933
152382-85 Phil Harris 3-3-1933 = Los Angeles ??

Did Columbia only record these 4 Fisher titles in Chicago at the time,
with 4 mx.nrs in the normal series?
And what is Fisher on 24 Feb?
Or was a block of 4 mx nrs used for 4 recordings from 2 dates?

>>> Rust's Columbia Master Book Vol. 3 says the Fisher sessions of
2 and 24 February 1933 were recorded in Chicago, as does the new ADBD.

The Fisher Columbia mxs were recorded just after 31 Jan & 1 Feb 1933 Ted Lewis New York sessions.
Bernie Chicago 1 Feb 33 recs are Brunswick C-500 series mxs.
Other Columbias in Chicago are later: Agnew is Chicago July 1933; Burtnett is Chicago 1934.

Columbia recorded several excellent bands in Chicago during 1933-24, during
the World's Fair, including Charles Agnew, Earl Burtnett, Ben Bernie,
etc., all of whom were playing long gigs there during the fair.

For all of the above, Rust states that they were recorded in Chicago.

The exception are the four sides by Mark Fisher and his Edgewater Beach
Hotel Orch, which Rust says were recorded in New York. Is that right? I
know Fisher was at the Edgewater Beach hotel around mid-1933. Why would
they haul the band to NY to make four sides when they were recording Agnew,
McCoy and others in Chicago around the same time?

Is there a way to tell from the master numbers where the sides were actually
recorded?

BTW, the Fisher of Black Eyed Susan Brown b/w Lovey is one of my all-time
fave records...hot stuff!

Thanks again from Taylor
