One wonders if they sold machines under their own "brand name" (there
were MANY companies which c/would provide the parts to do that!) or
if they sold another locally-"manufactured" brand...?! Also note that there
were "Standard" machines sold...so that may be what the writer referred
to...?!

5048 S. Ashland would have been 50 blocks (6.25 miles) south...and
IIRC 16 blocks (2 miles) west of the "zero point" of State & Madison.
One would find VERY few white folks in that area to-day...or even
not that long after this item first appeared! I don't know if Black
folks bought pianos (possible...but one wonders if they COULD
given their limited pay then...?!)?
