You should have timed your visit to get to the Jazz Record Bash, and/or
the Mechanical Music Show, both in New Jersey near NYC . Thats where
the 78s and cylinders were..
If you can get to central New Jersey, the best LP place is Princeton Record Exchange.
20 South Tulane Street Princeton, NJ 08542

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In NYC there is sheet music at Coloney, 1619 Broadway and 49th St
http://www.colonymusic.com/
There used to be records but they sold out years ago. High prices --
sometimes above list.
+++++++++++++++
There are discographies, books, LPs and a few 78s at Jazz Record Center
, 236 W 26th,room 804
http://www.jazzrecordcenter.com/
Not cheap, but occasional bargains.
+++++++++++++++
Acadamy Records
12 W. 18th St. (between 5th and 6th Aves.) LOTS of inesxpensive
classical LPs and CDs,
also good selection of used pop and jazz CDs and DVDs
My favorite store in NYC
415 E. 12 ST. (Between 1st Ave and Ave A) I haven't gotten to this
location yet but they list it for pop, jazz, rock LPs
and over in Brooklyn, their Annex 96 N. 6TH ST. (Between Berry & Wythe)
Haven't gotten to this location either.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Bleeker St Records, 239 Bleeker St bet 6th and 7th Ave
Lots of LPs downstairs

In Chicago
Jazz Record Mart, 27 East Illinois St , East of N State St.
http://jazzmart.com/
Lots of jazz LPs and 78s , not just jazz
If you are driving, detour thru Pittsburgh for Whistlin Willies 78 store.
http://whistlinwillies.com/ His dad's LP store is adjacent.
