A little more than that. She was quite a beauty and had a lot more to do with fighting racial inequality than just being famous. Last year, I saw Leslie Uggams star as Horne in a musical based on Horne's life called (what else?) "Stormy Weather." It was pretty good, and Uggams was fabulous. There's more to Horne than just being a celebrity. I'm just saying that her singing wasn't necessarily her strong suit as far as her historical importance is concerned.
