[78-L] fwd: Classic jazz album covers

The Birka Jazz Archives is a fascinating display of jazz album cover 
art, as is the Jim Flora website. Not every one is going to agree on 
what is attractive and interesting as cover art, even among the David 
Stone Martin covers. Some of the cover art displayed on the site did 
not originate as cover art but as an illustration published in a 
48-page, 6-3/4x6-7/8-inch self-cover undated Asch-Disc catalog. At a 
guess, it was published about 1946. The following year, Disc went 
bankrupt. One illustration that became a cover are the terpsichoreans 
on Count Basie Dance Session (both one and two),  Some covers Martin 
covers were used on both 78 and LP-album versions. Of the “crap” jazz 
covers, the only one I have is the Vanguard Ted Brown “Free Wheelin‘,”’ 
which says nothing about Ted Brown or the music, and might as well have 
been printed on a milk carton.
