What of Emmett Hardy who was said to have played Bix style cornet  before Bix?He died in his 20s of
TB in or around 1925.Chu Berry died at 31 in an auto accident in October of 1941.Herschel Evans was
another who died young.According to George T. Simon,he died in an auto accident but according to John
Hammond,he died of some sort of brain injury in early 1939.Jan Savitt died in 1948 of a massive stroke.
Hal Kemp died in an auto accident in late 1940 not long after signing with Victor.He was in California.

He was the subject of an article in VJM recently that discussed this. 
Blood poisoning from nose picking ain't a heroic way to go.
